Dear Writing, I Miss You

I haven't had time for my writing this week and I miss it.

I miss the way my brain wakes up when I'm working on my book. I miss thinking about my characters and how they react and think. I miss the sense of satisfaction that comes when all the words fit together and sound right.

In the past few years, probably the longest I've gone without writing is a couple of weeks. Maybe less. Last year, I even took my writing on vacation ('cause writing and having fun too was awesome). How long can you be away from your writing before you start missing it?

  1. A couple of weeks and I start itching to do something with writing, whether it's beta reading or doing my own thing :)

  2. I get a little grouchy after about a week or so. Sometimes reading helps but I need to do some word piddling to feel better.

  3. It's always in the back of my mind, but if I go longer than a week, I find it really hard to get sucked back into the story.

  4. Aw, I hope you're able to get back into the swing of it soon. Being away from writing that long is CWAPPY. I sympathize. The longest I've been away from writing STORIES is two weeks. During that time, I journaled instead.

  5. It's usually in the back of my mind too. I start getting really itchy if more than a week goes by.

  6. Weeks go by without me writing sometimes. I hate it. I get really crabby (more than usual) and my brain seems to be constantly going.

    Hope you can return ASAP!

  8. Yeah, it can make me a little grouchy when I don't get to work on my novel. I have been doing some blog posts and journalling (thank you, notebook), but it's not the same.
