It Makes Me Smile #2

What a great first week of summer holidays this has been. I hope you had a great week, too! Here are a few of the little things that made me smile this week:

1. Tasting yummy, whipcreamy, sweet strawberry shortcake for the first time this season -- a real summer treat.

2. Drawing! I haven't done any sketching for a long time, but it's so cool to have the time to do something I really enjoy. I should make time for it more often.

3. Hearing the familiar voice of an old friend I haven't heard from in a long time.

4. Writing a bunch of new ideas in my writing notebook. It seems like since I've been on holidays, there's more space in my mind to be creative. Do you ever notice that? I think I've gotten at least one new idea each day.

5. Selling some things we didn't need and reclaiming the space they took up -- yeah!

6. For a writing-related smile, check out my post, 5 Tips for Revising a Novel, over at MiG Writers.

Did you do anything that made you smile this week? What would you like to have time to do that you just can't manage to make work?

****** Don't forget, I'm celebrating by giving away 3 "mystery" middle grade novels, one per week for the next three weeks. There's still time to enter to win this week's prize!*******

  1. I didn't know you drew! Interesting. And yes, strawberries and whip cream-heaven!

  2. Christy, since my mom is an artist, I got interested in drawing when I was a teen, and even took some drawing courses in university. But I hadn't done any drawing for years, before yesterday!

  3. I miss drawing, but it's been so long I feel like I've forgotten how. I can't think of anything in particular I did that made me smile, but I'm sure there were things. I know my husband and I were joking around a lot this week. That always makes me smile.

  4. This might seem a little strange.. but here it goes. Yesterday, my oldest got his wisdom teeth taken out. When the nurse took me back to recovery, he was curled up under a blanket, sleeping. One of his hands was sticking out so I reached over and slipped my hand into his. His fingers curled around my hand just like a newborn baby's hand closes around his mom's finger. And every time I tried to move my hand, my son grabbed tighter. His involuntary grasp made me want to cry. But also smile.

  5. B.E., joking around with my husband is definitely fun and something I appreciate. Sharing with other people makes life so much better!

Car, that's a great one! I love it when I'm reminded of what my kids were like as babies.
